Friendship

3 min read

On December first, 2017, at forty-one years young I moved two hundred and ninety-six miles away from the area I have lived in almost my entire life.

I know right?!  Some adventurer I've been!

Well . . .   From December first until at least April 30th, 2018 I am a resident of Friendship, Maine.  Friendship is a small town about an hour and a half north and east from Portland Maine.  My lady, myself and our pup (whose picture is here at least a few times) moved kinda into the middle of not that much, 300 miles north, and right at the beginning of winter.

Anyway, the last bunch of images I put up here was all taken within about a hundred yards of the house we're leasing till May and I would imagine that anything I might post between now and then will have been shot somewhere up here!

Here's to new beginnings in new places with new things to take pictures of!!

Cheers

Howdy Fellow Deviants!!
I'm very happy and proud to relay that I have been honored by a request from :icontwinpeaksterritory: to display one of my latest pieces!   I was introduced to this wonderful group of Surreality by a new friend here on deviantArt, the very talented :iconnarcissaforsworth:.
It is a relatively small group whose amazing Gallery is all tied together by an imagination capturing concept which is beautifully illustrated by the careful curation of work by some incredibly talented deviantArtists;
Some of the artists whose work can be found here, I was already familiar with such as :iconchriseastmids:, :icondavidm54:, :iconiskaeldt:, and of course :iconnarcissaforsworth:.
And, as one would expect, I discovered some new artists here as well that I am quite proud to see my work displayed among such as :icondeadendsoul:, :icondavincigirl:, :iconvampyrtenrai:, and many more I'm still in the joyful process of discovering!
The Groups Galleries are a Must-See for anyone out there who shares my penchant for the darker side of reality . . . Or Surreality as I call it . . .

That is all for now . . . and so it goes . . .

Are YOU . . .
                 Deviant At Heart . . . ?

To All Whom Within A Deviant Lies . . .

Your Humble Host has never done anything like this and doesn’t really know what he’s doing truth be told.   Most of the time I really make it all up as I go along.  Sometimes it works out and sometimes it don't.
So here's what I did...
I know that there is not a lot of crossover between dA here and the evil blue and white social network 'out there'.  I myself don't use it a lot but I am on it.  And I always like your page if you have it posted on your dA page.  I'll always follow your Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, 500px, Flickr, and pretty much anything else you post whether I use the network right now or not doesn't really matter, I believe in the support, and who knows when I might get a bug up my ass to go social media crazy.
Anyway . . .  I digress . . .
Like I said, I occasionally use FB, or really just sort of poke around once in awhile, and I usually post a copy of stuff that I post anywhere else there just for fun.  I also follow a ton of Artists and photographers who are not deviantArtists.  I find though that whenever I'm there I don't stay long.  It doesn't feel like home to me.  For better or for worse I'm stuck with dA.  This is where I can spend the most time, see the best Art, meet the coolest people, give/get encouragement and constructive criticism, and just generally put my feet up and feel at home!
Sooooooooooooo. . .
I looked around FB for any sort of dA groups or really anything related to dA at all.
Needless to say, I didn't find much, and what I did find was fairly regimented in that the groups were really only designed for fans of one type or genre of art.
Sooooooooooooo . . .
I started a FB group for deviants!
I don’t have a specific mission or goal with this group, other than to give deviantArtists of any art persuasion a place on FB to ... see other Deviants, post other work, rant about something (NO POLITICS outside a piece of art, NO RELIGION outside a piece of art, NO VERBAL DESTRUCTION OF OTHER ARTISTS), I don’t know.
But I'm throwing it out there and we'll just see what happens.  Maybe something will come of it, and perhaps there is no call for it...  either way ... the address is

facebook.com/groups/deviantath…

Feel free to stop by.  There's really not anything there yet...  I'm waiting for y'all...
Say something, post something, whatever you wanna do...
I guess that is all for now . . .

Yours in Deviousness,

Burton J Lomax

ps.
for anyone that doesn't already know this, I am here to be accessible and to interact, so feel free to note, comment, criticize, me, my work, my FB Group, whatever! . . .

Two in A Row...

I know I know...  Two Journal entries back to back...
I couldn't help myself...  Feeling the dA Love this morning...
My dear friend :iconmultiartis: posted a thoughtful Journal entry the other day Not just uploading my work into a silent void that I wanted to piggy back on a little bit because I do believe in the community aspect of this little world we have going here and I believe that it is the encouragement, friendship, and (sometimes especially) the constructive criticism that we artists and burgeoning artists can offer one another that not only keep us going but aid us on our artistic journey and the many different directions those journeys are likely to take!
I spent a little while yesterday beginning to go through the work of the artists that :iconmultiartis: featured in his Journal entry (I have more to go, but I'll get there!) and have thoroughly enjoyed the new connections I have made.
I think it IS important to understand and utilize the fact that if we use this forum the way it can be used we are NOT 'Uploading our work into a silent void' but rather to a place that can help it grow and become better and find appreciation by like minds.
So in that same spirit I offer my own Thank You and Get to Know Each Other Better ...

Solitaire by Hengki24all memories are traces of tears by chriseastmidsBifurcation I by Aynur-Sfera-Sky

splash by ltiana355Map of the Black Corsair treasure, pirates islands by iside2012
I would also like to note that all the artists featured here are more than pretty pictures...  They are people with whom I interact (albeit digitally) and have gained encouragement, inspiration, and constructive criticism.  In other words, they are members of the COMMUNITY  of Artists here.
And once again many thanks to :iconmultiartis: for inspiring and encouraging myself and many others!!

Yours in Deviousness....

Hello fellow Deviants!!

Your humble comrade is quite proud to announce to the community that I have now been honored two weeks in a row in :iconmouselemur:'s wonderful weekly feature Fickle Friday!
:iconmouselemur:'s Gallery is full of beautiful portraits of Wild Things of all kinds, a few of my favorites are this big guy  Get Up Stand Up by Mouselemur, my favorite animal of all time,  Reason to Believe by Mouselemur, this smaller guy  Eucalyptus Lover by Mouselemur, even smaller...   Always Where I Need to Be by Mouselemur, and numerous other furred and feathered beauties!!
Every Friday she takes the time to put together a wonderful Feature combining a song and lots of deviantART to illustrate the lyrics to that song!
My works  Turning... by BurtonJLomax, and  Stillwaters Run... by BurtonJLomax, have been placed alongside some beautiful work from other Deviants to aid in the illustration of two songs from one of my personal favorite 80's groups AHA!
I recommend checking out her page and some of the great stuff she has in her gallery, as well as the amazing art she's curated for these wonderful Fickle Friday Features!!

Cheers to All!!
